Trip to the Hospital

I'm posting from the hospital so no pictures with this one, but this was way too funny not to share. We packed out bags and left the hotel at 5 am yesterday. Tom opened the trunk of the car, packed all of the bags inside and closed the trunk.....and guess where the keys to the car were? Of course.....with the bags on the floor of the trunk. I think "dad-to-be" nerves were hard at work, because he has never done this before. :o) Luckily we were staying at the same hotel as Tom and Cheeri, so we borrowed their car to pick up Amy and got to the hospital on time. Thank goodness no one was actually in labor! Tom's dad rescued us by calling a local garage to come open the car door, which they did at 6 am horn blaring and all.....but everything was disabled and the trunk pop button would not work. Horn still blaring they crawled through the back seat and reached the car keys. They made it to the hospital with all of the bags (which included the video camera and digital camera) well before Avery made her grand entrance.

As for Avery, she is doing FANTASTIC! She is eating really, really well and hardly makes a peep. She slept last night from 10:30 until 5:30 this morning. She is very content all of the time and doesn't seem to mind much of anything......including shots and baths. She is a perfect baby as far as we're concerned. She LOVES to sleep, so they have us waking her every three hours to eat so she doesn't lose too much weight. She was down to 8 lbs 8 oz this morning and all of her vitals are still perfect. Everyone says she's doing great.

Amy on the other hand had us a bit scared this morning. She woke up with quite a bit of pain (not related to the incision site) which they are managing with meds, but she is a trooper and is hanging in there pretty well. We are trying to let her rest a lot more today and are now limiting the number of visitors. But she is up walking around and eating lots of sherbert, so she's making good progress. Tomorrow will hopefully be a much better day for her. Amy is definitely our HERO and we will love her forever for giving us this amazing little miracle. We're already starting to plan the Syverson-Ford family reunion so she can get to know all of her cousins. :o)
